RF Online Next launches Nova server with growth boost
Published on · Updated on
Netmarble opens the Super Boost Nova server in RF Online Next, with up to 10,000 Summon Tickets, weekly Mystic Diamonds and Legendary items by level.

Netmarble opened on Wednesday (21) the Super Boost server Nova for the MMORPG RF Online Next, available on PC and mobile. The announcement, made by the company's South Korean branch, brings a reward package tied to character growth stages: up to 10,000 Summon Tickets, 4,000 Mystic Diamonds every week and Legendary-tier items upon reaching set levels. The goal is to shorten the path for players who are just starting out or returning after a long break, in a franchise created in 2004 that, according to Netmarble itself, topped revenue in both major app markets in South Korea six days after its official launch on March 20, 2025.
Nova is not a regular content update: it is a temporary environment built around accelerated progression, a model Asian studios use to turn curious newcomers into regular players without demanding months of daily routines. Pre-registration had opened on October 1, with the launch scheduled for the 21st. At the time, Netmarble said characters developed on the server could be transferred to existing servers after Nova closes, keeping level and gear. The closing date, however, was not detailed in the material released this week.
The announcement came from the game's South Korean operation, which is also the territory where the title launched first. The release does not mention a specific calendar for the global server, which opened on June 16, 2026, after launches in South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. For Brazilian readers, the news works above all as a thermometer of the update pace and the monetization model Netmarble intends to keep in the long run.
How the Super Boost Nova server works
Nova hands out rewards according to level milestones, not just playtime. Upon reaching the designated tiers, the player receives Legendary-tier biosuits, rovers and weapon skins, items that normally require luck in gacha systems or many hours of farming. On top of that, the server applies permanent buffs during the event that increase EXP, Credit and National Contribution gains.
| Reward | How to get it | Disclosed cap |
|---|---|---|
| Summon Tickets | Daily attendance and mission completion | Up to 10,000 during the event |
| Mystic Diamonds | Gameplay missions | Up to 4,000 per week |
| Legendary biosuit, rover and weapon skin | Designated levels | One set per milestone |
| Ctrl+Z Coupons | Monthly delivery starting October 28 | 5 per month |
| EXP, Credit and National Contribution buffs | Applied automatically on the server | During the event |
The logic is well known in the MMO market: instead of selling only convenience, the company distributes part of the progression power as an engagement reward. The player who logs in every day advances faster, which boosts retention and, in practice, builds a user base more likely to spend once the temporary server closes.
Mystic Diamonds with almost all the powers of a Diamond
The central currency on Nova is the Mystic Diamond, earned through gameplay missions. According to Netmarble, it can be used to expand inventory space and buy Diamond items in the shop. With the exception of some exchange-related functions, the Mystic Diamond plays the same role as the standard Diamond.
That partial equivalence is an important detail for anyone planning to use the server as a springboard. Because the conversion is not total, items and operations that depend on the player-to-player market are left out, which limits the creation of parallel economies and reduces the risk of arbitrage between servers.
The package is not limited to currency and items. The update also introduced an artifact rental system, letting players try equipment they do not own yet for a set period. Twelve models are available, including MAU Annihilator, Aegis, Tempest and Hercules, plus 10 launchers such as Machali, Typhon, Orthos and Chiron. The idea is to let players test combinations before spending resources on permanent unlocks.

Mining War overhauled and the end of per-server trading
Beyond the server itself, the update touches two central structures of RF Online Next's economy and PvP. The Mining War underwent a complete overhaul of its structure, rules and rewards. The first clash in the new format takes place on October 24, three days after Nova opens.
The trading system also changed shape. Netmarble removed individual per-server exchanges and moved to two models: the World Exchange and the Integrated Exchange. In practice, the measure pools supply and demand into a larger market, which tends to stabilize prices for common items, but may also increase competition for rare resources and fuel inflation of high-value goods.
"Nova is a Super Boost server that offers rewards aligned with character growth. Upon reaching the designated levels, players can obtain Legendary-tier biosuits, rovers and weapon skins."
Halloween, Ushas and the Rusty Junkworm boss
The content calendar follows right after. On October 28, the Halloween event dungeon Jack-o'-Lantern's Banquet opens. There, players collect the exchange currency Pumpkin Lantern to unlock the Infernal Nightmare costume and the Black Cat rover skin.
The monthly delivery of five Ctrl+Z Coupons also starts on the same date, a benefit that extends beyond the Halloween season. The update further adds a new hunting ground, Ushas Swarm Zone 2, on the exoplanet Ushas, and a new world boss, Rusty Junkworm. Netmarble did not disclose the exact arrival dates for these two additions, only that they will roll out in stages.
The combination helps explain why Nova arrives alongside structural changes. Boost servers tend to concentrate the population in low and mid level brackets; without endgame appeal, players tend to abandon the character once the bonus ends. At the same time, the Mining War and trading revisions touch precisely the areas that sustain the routine of those already at the top of the progression curve.
A 20-year-old franchise trying to renew itself
RF Online Next uses the intellectual property of RF Online, released in 2004 and in service for more than 20 years. The new version keeps the faction war and the sci-fi setting that marked the original, but was designed for PC and mobile, with controls and interface adapted to touchscreens.
The numbers cited by Netmarble help size up the bet. The company says the game reached first place in revenue in both major app markets in South Korea six days after its official launch on March 20, 2025. The global expansion followed on June 16, 2026, after South Korea, Japan and Taiwan, widening the base for a market that had known the brand for two decades.
For the MMO segment, the boost-server strategy works as a second front door. Instead of relying only on marketing campaigns to attract new users, the company creates an environment where newcomers quickly reach content veterans have been discussing for months. The risk lies in sustaining it: if the update flow slows down after the event, the retention gain may fade as fast as it arrived.
What to watch from now on
The first test for Nova will be uptake in the first two weeks, when the revamped Mining War (October 24) and the Halloween dungeon (October 28) arrive. After that, attention turns to three points: the closing date of the temporary server, the definitive rules for character transfers and the community's response to the new unified trading system.
