Horizon Walker's October 22 update adds EX vanguard Mu Yingying, the Halloween event "Night of Lies: Trick or Twin" and overhauls the Stigmata system.
The strategy RPG Horizon Walker receives an update this Thursday, October 22, adding the new character Mu Yingying, the Halloween event "Night of Lies: Trick or Twin" and a full overhaul of the Stigmata progression system. The package was detailed by South Korean developer and publisher GentleManiac and marks the game's main content drop of the month.
Maintenance to apply the patch is scheduled between 09:00 and 12:00 KST, and the seasonal content will remain available for almost a month. The new character joins the roster as an EX-rarity unit, while the themed event runs until November 19.
What arrives in the October 22 update
The patch combines three distinct fronts: a brand-new playable character, a Halloween narrative event and a structural revision of one of the game's core progression systems. According to GentleManiac's statement, the stated goal is to let players experience the charm of the new character Mu Yingying through a variety of content.

Who is Mu Yingying, the "Guardian of Thunder"
Mu Yingying is described as the chief of the Secret Protection Division at the Rift Management Bureau and as the Guardian of Thunder. Despite her youthful appearance, she is a veteran with years of field experience — and much of her dramatic weight comes from her struggle to prevent the shutdown and merger of her own division.
In combat, she fills a vanguard slot with a cost of 7 and EX rarity. She can serve as an Assault Operative, Assault Escort or Beyondbound Pioneer, dealing Electric-type elemental damage. Her personal trait, "Static Electricity", applies Electrocution to nearby allies at the start of the turn and raises her Block Rate, capped at 75%.
The signature weapon launching alongside her is the Tactical Suppression Gear – ES01, a blunt weapon with a shield that converts part of Crush damage into Electric damage and allows unlimited counterattacks during battle — a detail likely to shake up defensive team compositions.
Stigmata system gets new grades
Beyond the new content, the update touches one of the most important progression gears. The Stigmata system, used to develop characters, will now work with grades. In practice, players can obtain higher-grade Stigmatas and equip them to make their roster stronger than previously possible.
The change directly affects those who already invested time in the endgame: rather than replacing the previous system, it raises the progression ceiling and adds a new farming layer. GentleManiac said the revision was designed so players can keep tackling challenges with the characters they love — a clear message to a community that has complained about pressure to constantly swap units.
Halloween, costumes and affection content
The "Night of Lies: Trick or Twin" event uses Mu Yingying as the narrative thread and adds a set of activities already familiar to the game's audience: Larina's Dopamine Channel, event stages with specific clear conditions, daily missions, achievements, login-day rewards and a token exchange shop.
The package also includes the "Parachute So Joo-hee" Event Pass and Mu Yingying's Season Pass, both running until November 19. Among the cosmetics, the developer added the "Sweet & Spooky Vampire Bride" costume for the new character — described by Korean media as a succubus-themed outfit — which changes not only her appearance but also her equipped weapon and dialogue within affection content.
The affection system, in fact, is one of the patch's focal points: Mu Yingying's story gets its own event, five traits tied to five affection levels and specific scenes in the Massage, Bathroom and Bedroom modes. The scale of the additions shows GentleManiac is not only selling a strong unit, but building identification with the character.

GentleManiac CEO Tae-woong Lee commented on the launch in a press release:
"In this update, we focused on enabling players to experience the charm of the new character Mu Yingying through various content."
"We will do our best so that players can also enjoy the Halloween atmosphere inside Horizon Walker."
The statement reinforces the seasonal content strategy the studio has adopted, alternating major character updates with themed events throughout 2026. With the event running nearly a month, players have room to clear the stages and the exchange shop without racing the clock.
