Pan Studio released Duet Night Abyss version 1.7, titled "Towards the Dawn", on October 20. The free update adds the character Rhythm: Flamewrought, the new weapon Blessed Burden, a permanent story arc set in Icelake City and a run of seasonal events that stretches to the end of November. The content is already live on PC (Windows, Steam and Epic Games Store), iOS and Android.

The announcement came from the developer on the same day the patch went live. According to the press material, the version pairs a new form for an existing character with an extensive calendar of limited-time activities, outfits and progression adjustments — the same formula the studio has used since the global launch of the action RPG.

Immersive Theatre opens the season

The update celebration event, "Immersive Theatre", started on October 20 and runs until November 10. The premise puts the player on stage: the story moves forward based on the choices made inside the activity.

As a reward, participants collect "Secret Letters", the item used to obtain Rhythm: Flamewrought. Time-limited versions of the same Secret Letters also unlock the new weapon Blessed Burden. In parallel, the cumulative check-in event "Upcoming Tomorrow" hands out 10 "Luminous Hourglasses" — a recurring login reward material.

It is a typical anniversary-style design: instead of selling the character only through the store, the studio pushes players into a themed event, distributes unlock fragments and uses the story itself as a retention hook. Readers who want to follow the rest of the release calendar can check the games and releases sections.

Who is Rhythm: Flamewrought

Rhythm was already part of the Duet Night Abyss roster. The Flamewrought version is a new form of the character, now with the Electro element and a kit that mixes a one-handed sword and a hand cannon. That combination is precisely the game's combat axis, built around multiple weapon loadouts in real time.

Players unlock her through the Secret Letters handed out during the Immersive Theatre event. Story-focused players can also follow the character event "The Girl Who Will Become a Lantern", available until November 30, which digs into the heroine's past.

A permanent story in Icelake City

Unlike most seasonal content, the new story arc "Towards the Dawn" is permanent: it stays accessible after the celebratory events close. The plot follows a girl who brings warmth to the people of Icelake City, a place marked by extinguished lighthouses and cold winds.

"It tells the story of a girl who brings warmth to the people of Icelake City, a place filled with extinguished lighthouses and cold winds."

— Official synopsis of update 1.7, released by Pan Studio

Keeping a full arc available permanently matters for a live service game: it softens the feeling of content that simply "disappears" and gives newcomers — or returning players — a stable narrative path back into the campaign.

Weapons, Demon Wedges and progression

Beyond the Blessed Burden hand cannon, the update schedules two weapons for November 10: the longbow "The Hatter's Banquet" and the Calamity one-handed sword "Endless Enigma". All new weapons can be obtained through forging, so they do not rely exclusively on luck.

On the character growth side, new Demon Wedges arrive — Fenrir's Strong Hunter, Fenrir's Disintegration and Summanus's Still Thunder — alongside their blueprints. Pan Studio also adjusted how some existing Demon Wedges are acquired, a change that directly affects endgame build planning.

Outfits, Halloween and the first anniversary

Cosmetic events are staggered as well. "Midnight River of Oblivion" brings back the "Bizarre Whispers" outfits for Phina and Rhythm for a limited time. Starting November 10, "Candy Dream Factory" introduces the new "Candy Full House" line for Lisbell and Truffle & Hazelnut.

According to the press material shipped with the update, the package also includes a Halloween-themed outfit and a gift marking the service's first anniversary. The seasonal slate opens in sequence: "Festival Celebration Gift", "Treasure Hunt Training" — which offers training stages with rewards —, "Harvest Day", "Starlight Tour" and "Eternal Nightmare". Extra content such as "Immersive Theatre: Joint Stage", "Civilization Showdown", "To the Top" and "Moyusheng's Bizarre Adventure" will roll out gradually, along with the "Bard's Anthology: Starlight Melody" update.

Why the update matters

Duet Night Abyss is a free-to-play action RPG developed by Pan Studio, a studio under Hero Games, with a global launch on October 28, 2025 for iOS, Android and PC. The game leans on "multiple weapon loadouts" and three-dimensional combat as its differentiator, and promises that every character and weapon can be unlocked without paying.

Version 1.7 lands at a decisive moment for titles of this kind: with the first anniversary around the corner, the challenge is to keep launch players around and attract those who have not tried it yet. A permanent story arc, three new weapons and an event calendar running to the end of November form a package built for exactly that double goal. Mobile players can also follow releases through the mobile section, given how much of the player base is on phones.

It is worth remembering that staggered release dates in live service games tend to shift. The recommendation is to confirm times and time zones on official channels before planning a farming routine — especially for the November 10 weapons and for the Immersive Theatre closing, which falls on the same day.

Where to follow

Full update details are on the official Duet Night Abyss website and the game's community channels. The original announcement was published by Korean outlet Inven Global, which had access to Pan Studio's release on October 20.
