Nexon launched on Thursday (22) the second autumn update for MapleStory, introducing the four-chapter event "Maple Escape: The Missing Nemi". The update brings a mystery and investigation experience to the game, with cosmetic rewards and a chance to win tickets to an offline escape room cafe. The event will be available until November 18 and is set to engage the community over the coming weeks. The update was announced by the South Korean developer and reported by specialized media, including Inven Global.

The 'Maple Escape: The Missing Nemi' event

The event is divided into four chapters and revolves around the disappearance of Nemi, a central character in the story. Players participate through the NPC "Detective Pink Bean", who guides them in searching for clues scattered across the map. Each week, a new chapter of the story is unlocked over three weeks, creating a progression rhythm that encourages players to return to the game. The narrative combines investigation elements with MapleStory's characteristic humor, putting the player in the role of a detective in a case full of twists.

In addition to following the story, participants must solve puzzles, complete missions and interact with secondary characters. The event will be available until November 18, the deadline to complete all stages and claim the rewards. The weekly chapter structure is a recurring strategy by Nexon to maintain engagement during the autumn season, a period when the game usually receives Halloween-themed updates.

Rewards and the escape room raffle

Players who complete the event missions receive a series of cosmetic items. Among the rewards are the Witch Hat Mount (Permanent) Coupon, the Hallocat Damage Skin (Unit) Selection Coupon, the Escaper Set Coupon and the Moonlit Halloween Maple Home Theme Coupon. The items are focused on customization and follow the Halloween theme, matching the season's atmosphere. Nexon has not released details about the rarity or the possibility of obtaining alternative versions of the items, but the list is already circulating among players.

The main attraction, however, is the raffle for tickets to the offline escape room cafe "MapleStory Escape". Players who complete all four chapters of the event will compete for 200 individual tickets to the in-person experience. The cafe is based on the Grand Athenaeum, a classic MapleStory setting, and offers an immersion into the game's universe. The initiative is part of Nexon's strategy to connect the digital game with real-world experiences, expanding the brand's reach and strengthening ties with the community.

The raffle will take place after the event ends, and winners will be notified through official channels. Participation requires completing all stages within the deadline, which means players need to organize themselves to avoid missing any weekly chapter. Demand is expected to be high, as the escape room cafe has been attracting fans since its launch.

The '2nd Golden Hand Awards' contest

The update also marks the return of the "2nd Golden Hand Awards" contest, which had not been held for five years. The competition celebrates player creativity, allowing participants to submit cosmetic item designs in five categories: hair, face, outfit set, pet and Sol Hecate Skin. A total of 36 winners will be selected, and the best works will be turned into official in-game items.

Prizes include up to 3 million won in cash and 1.5 million Nexon Cash, plus physical gifts such as a desk mat, a keyboard and a personalized MY Mood Lamp. To participate, players must have a main character at level 260 or higher. Submissions are open until November 11, and public voting takes place between November 30 and December 6. The contest is a way to recognize the community's work and incorporate fan ideas into the game.

New challenges: Extreme difficulty for Limbo and Baldrix

In addition to the event, the autumn update adds "Extreme" difficulty for the bosses Limbo and Baldrix. The battles are designed for parties of up to three players and require high levels: 285 or higher for Extreme Limbo and 290 or higher for Extreme Baldrix. The encounters feature new attack patterns and improved visual effects, increasing the challenge for high-level players.

Rewards include the Exceptional Hammer (Pocket) and the Exceptional Hammer (Pendant), items coveted by those looking to improve their equipment. The arrival of Extreme difficulty expands end-game content and offers an alternative for groups that have already mastered the previous versions of the bosses. Nexon has been investing in challenging content to keep veterans engaged, and the update follows that line.

Hunting event and community changes

The "Detective Yeti's Suspicious Magnifying Glass" hunting event is also available until November 18. Players can use the booster items "Suspicious Magnifying Glass" and "Detective Yeti's Suspicious Magnifying Glass", which summon monsters that grant EXP for 100 seconds. The daily mission consists of defeating 10,000 monsters near the character's level to receive a "Detective Yeti's Suspicious Magnifying Glass" once per day. Halloween-themed Runes and Elite Monsters appear in major towns such as Henesys and Cernium Square.

The update also brings community improvements. "Maple Talk" allows group chats across servers, making it easier for players from different worlds to interact. The "World-Shared Cosmetic Slot" lets players share Master Label items within the same world, expanding customization options. "Maple Home" has been expanded, and an automatic reroll system for Potentials and Abilities of Unique tier or lower has been implemented, making progression more practical.

Calendar and next steps

To complete the season, Nexon has prepared a login event at the Premium PC Cafe, running from October 23 to November 19. Participants receive rewards such as the Exploration Coin Coupon, VIP Booster and VIP Sauna Coupon. Cumulative prizes include 1,000 Advanced EXP Coupons, 30 Karma Black Cubes and 30 Karma White Additional Cubes. The initiative targets players who frequent partner cafes and reinforces the game's presence in physical environments.
