Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix fixes Argentina save issue
Published on · Updated on
Hotfix 2.500.200 restores save access for affected players in Argentina. CD Projekt Red says other regions may get the download without gameplay changes.

A new Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix addresses a problem that kept some players in Argentina from accessing their saved games. Identified as version 2.500.200 on PS5, the update appeared on October 27, a few days after the larger 2.5 release. CD Projekt Red clarified that players in other regions may also receive the download, but the fix is limited to the regional save-access issue described by the developer.

The clarification came after PS5 users noticed a new download without clear release notes in the console menus. The first reports described the patch as a mystery; hours later, the game’s official account said it was meant to restore access to saved data for affected players in Argentina. That distinction matters: this is a targeted hotfix, separate from the broader features introduced in Update 2.5.
What the hotfix changes for players in Argentina
According to the official Cyberpunk 2077 account, the fix addresses an issue that prevented some players in Argentina from accessing their saved-game data. The statement does not explain the technical cause, connect the issue to a regional lock, or say that every player in the country was affected. What is confirmed is narrower: some users could not open their saves, and the developer released a correction for that case.
“It fixes an issue players in Argentina were having with accessing their saved game data.”
CD Projekt Red added that the nature of this type of fix means players elsewhere may also see a download notification. That does not mean the hotfix brings new content or general improvements for players in Brazil or other countries. A console can offer the update even when the underlying issue does not apply to that account or region.
Reports put the PS5 download at about 1.2 GB when it appeared. The size can differ by platform, existing installation, and how files are delivered. The developer did not publish a broad changelog for this hotfix, so there is no basis to credit it with unrelated changes to HDR, performance, or mod compatibility.
The regional hotfix is separate from Update 2.5
The previous release, known as the Edgerunners 2 Update or version 2.5, was a free content and feature update for Cyberpunk 2077. It launched first on PC, Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 22, 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition received its own update in the following days. The October 27 hotfix has a different purpose: restoring access to saved games in Argentina, without announcing a new quest or additional systems.
Update 2.5 added the side quest “Clampdown,” set before the events of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime, along with items inspired by the show and a radio station featuring music from the animated universe. It also introduced hand-implant appearance customization at Glamdocs and a combat style that lets players dual-wield compatible pistols or revolvers.
One of the most visible console features is cross-platform mod support through mod.io. The system lets players browse and install a selection of community creations from inside the game. CD Projekt Red warns that modded saves on consoles cannot earn achievements or trophies while they remain modded. Update 2.5 also added a field-of-view slider to consoles and technical improvements, but those changes belong to the main release, not the Argentina hotfix.
Why players in other countries receive the download
A globally distributed update can contain a fix that matters only to one country or group of accounts. In this case, the console detects an available game version and offers the package to players in each region, even if the change has no noticeable effect for them. That is CD Projekt Red’s explanation for why the file appeared beyond Argentina after Update 2.5.
For players in Brazil, the notification does not indicate that their own saves are at risk or that the patch hides a new feature. It is the package released to correct the Argentina-specific situation; the official message does not report an equivalent failure among Brazilian players. Keeping the game updated remains the normal way to receive files made available by the platform, but the hotfix should not be mistaken for a content expansion.
It is also important not to assume that every Argentine player experienced the issue or that all platforms were affected in the same way. The announcement does not say how many people were impacted, when the problem began, or whether its source was the game, an account, or another component. More specific technical explanations would be speculation without further information from the developer.
What to do if a save is still inaccessible
Players in Argentina who still cannot load saved data should confirm that their platform has received the latest available game version and contact CD Projekt Red support. The company’s post confirms that a correction exists, but it does not provide recovery steps, backup-restoration instructions, or a fix for individual cases that continue after downloading the patch.
As a general precaution, avoid deleting local files or overwriting a cloud copy while investigating the issue. This is not a substitute for official support guidance, which may vary by console and storage method. CD Projekt Red did not publish a step-by-step procedure for affected users in its hotfix announcement.
The episode shows how a system update can prompt questions when a console or store provides little detail. In this case, the developer’s later clarification narrowed the scope: the patch fixes saved-game access in Argentina, even though the download may appear elsewhere.
