MW4 Season 1 starts November 6

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches November 6 at 2 a.m. in Brasília, bringing new multiplayer maps, modes, DMZ’s X01 site, weapons and Warzone integration.

Activision says the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will begin on November 6 at midnight Eastern Time, which is 2 a.m. in Brasília. The update brings new multiplayer maps and modes, the X01 high-risk site in DMZ, and the integration of Warzone into the game’s seasonal cycle. The publisher outlined the schedule and headline additions in an official blog post on October 28, while a separate Warzone roadmap is due on November 2.

When Season 1 goes live
The global launch is scheduled for 12 a.m. Eastern Time on November 6, or 9 p.m. Pacific Time on November 5. The United States will have switched back to standard time by then, making the Eastern Time release equivalent to 2 a.m. in Brasília on November 6. Activision says the update will be available across all platforms at the same time.
That distinction matters for players following the launch from Brazil: the season does not arrive during the evening of November 5 there, but in the early hours of the next day. The official page groups the update around multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, but does not give a separate release time for each mode. Content marked as pre-season or mid-season follows its own schedule.

Three maps headline the multiplayer update
The initial multiplayer lineup includes Backstab and Canyon, two new medium-sized maps for 6v6 matches, alongside a reimagined version of Shoot House. Backstab places firefights in a snow-covered town. Its streets offer longer sightlines, while open buildings support closer engagements. The official description also points to elevated positions and blasted walls that create flank routes, making it important to read angles before pushing through the center.
Canyon shifts to an arid landscape ringed by high rock walls and open ground. The publisher highlights a river route, a cliff path, caves and structures that can provide cover or a height advantage. Teams will need to balance exposed crossings with protected approaches and watch enemy positions before moving through open areas.
Shoot House returns with a new look inspired by the campaign’s North Korean setting and light snowfall. Activision calls out its three main lanes and elevated positions near the Hospital and Apartments. Shipment, meanwhile, became available on October 27 during the pre-season, so it is not one of the maps debuting on November 6. Ministry, Overflow and additional classified locations are planned for the middle of the season.
Modes, DMZ and the Warzone connection
Grind and Drop Zone are among the modes arriving with the season. Gauntlet 1v1 is tied to the Wager Match event, which offers rewards for challenges across different modes. Infected and Possession are pre-season additions instead: Activision’s calendar lists Possession for October 29 and Infected for October 30. Players therefore have new playlists to try before Season 1 officially begins.
DMZ’s main expansion is X01, a former Russian facility on the edge of Hajin. The site includes cargo bays, vehicle depots, underground laboratories and a deep vault. The publisher says the location will bring new enemies, orders and events, with shifting hazards that call for planning and squad coordination. Activision has not published every mission parameter in the overview. Our earlier Operation Critical Extraction guide for MW4 DMZ explains one of the mode’s opening assignments.
Warzone is also being integrated with Modern Warfare 4’s seasonal cycle. The announcement names two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, as well as the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. However, Activision scheduled a separate post for November 2 to cover the free-to-play mode’s full roadmap. Details such as each map’s individual timing and any match-specific changes should therefore be treated as pending until that briefing.
Weapons, events and the Battle Pass
Season 1’s Battle Pass uses a linear 100-tier track and offers more than 100 rewards, including weapon blueprints, Operator skins, finishing moves and calling cards. Activision says the premium pass guarantees access to more than 50 rewards and includes a catch-up system for players who fall behind, capped at day 50 of the season. The company lists the pass at 1,100 COD Points and a bundle with 20 tier skips at 2,400 COD Points; those are virtual-currency prices, not amounts in Brazilian reais.
The two weapons highlighted for the Battle Pass are the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun. Later in the season, the JAK 12 shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon are expected through events. The calendar also includes camouflage challenges, squad activities and Wager Match. That means the update is not limited to new weapons: it also layers cosmetic rewards and progression across modes, according to the official overview.
The complete schedule and availability notes are in the official Season 1 announcement. The launch date is set; the next reporting milestone is November 2, when Activision says it will detail the Warzone portion.
