Modern Warfare 4 Season 1: maps, modes and Battle Pass
Published on · Updated on
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 starts November 6 with multiplayer maps, DMZ updates, two Warzone maps, new weapons and a 100-tier Battle Pass catch-up system.

Activision confirmed that Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone begins November 6 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time, or November 5 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time. The October 28 announcement outlines multiplayer maps, modes and weapons, new DMZ systems and combat areas, Warzone integration, and the season’s first Battle Pass. The update is planned for all platforms on which the game is available.
“Season 1 goes live at 0000 (midnight) ET on November 6.”
The Call of Duty announcement groups the launch around Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Some content arrives on day one; other maps and equipment are scheduled for the mid-season update. That timing matters: Activision does not present every item in the post as available on November 6.
- Start: November 6 at 12 a.m. ET (November 5 at 9 p.m. PT).
- Warzone adds Hajin and Zodiac and brings back Verdansk and Rebirth Island.
- The Battle Pass has a 100-tier track and more than 100 rewards.
- The standard Pass costs 1,100 COD Points; the Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points.
Multiplayer gets new maps and modes
Activision says more than six maps are included in the season’s content. Launch highlights include Backstab, set in a snow-covered town damaged by war; Canyon, built around towering rock walls; and a reimagined Shoot House. Shipment was added before the season begins. Ministry, Overflow and other still-classified maps are planned for mid-season, so the full count may grow as the cycle continues.
Modes also arrive in stages. Infected and Possession are part of the pre-season lineup, while Grind, Drop Zone and Gauntlet 1v1 are listed for launch alongside the Wager Match event. The mix spreads the update across familiar multiplayer and event-based objectives. Activision identifies Gauntlet 1v1 as one option in the event but does not state how long each playlist will remain available.
Kill Block: Crash, a fixed setup selected from popular MW4 beta combinations, will also appear in other playlists, including Search and Destroy.
DMZ opens the X01 area and new missions
The main DMZ addition is X01 Black Site, a new area described as a complex full of corridors and secrets. Season 1 brings new enemies, orders and activities, plus Survival Kits and FOB improvements. Activision says some details will only be revealed during deployments, leaving parts of the opening briefing intentionally unexplained.
Threat Briefings spotlight encounters with a battle tank in Hajin and The Captain inside X01. Squads collect parts or pieces of enemy equipment and can earn better rewards as they progress and successfully exfil. Resupply Run asks players to locate items across points of interest and trade them for high-value equipment such as Self Revives and 3-Plate Carriers. More orders and DMZ events are planned as the season develops.
Warzone integrates with the season
Warzone’s integration with Modern Warfare 4 arrives with Season 1. Two maps are announced: Hajin and Zodiac, the latter associated with Resurgence. The update also brings back Verdansk and Rebirth Island, alongside additional modes and features. Activision says a separate Warzone briefing with the full details is coming November 2; the October 28 post does not yet describe every competitive change or playlist rotation in equal depth.
The Battle Pass adds a catch-up system
Season 1’s Battle Pass uses a linear 100-tier track with more than 100 rewards, including Operator skins, weapon blueprints, finishing moves, calling cards, charms, reticles and COD Points. Activision also describes a catch-up system for premium Pass owners who fall behind: progress automatically advances to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50. It can reduce the pressure to complete tiers at the same pace from day one, but players still need to play to progress.
The premium Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points, while the Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points. Buying the Pass gives access to the catch-up system and the instant rewards listed in-game. These are point prices, not a fixed cash conversion; the actual cost can vary by region and platform. Players should check the store shown on their own account before completing a purchase.
Weapons and events roll out across the season
Weapons listed for the early season include the CSG-35 submachine gun and Cronen Osprey assault rifle. The JAK 12 shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon are planned for later in the season. Activision also lists weapon-camo events, squad challenges and Wager Match activities, which use trophies as progression currency. The announcement says no money or real-world-value items are involved in that event.
The schedule mixes launch content with mid-season releases, so maps and weapons will not all share the same availability date.
