The universe of Astrae Oratio has just gained another layer of mystery. NCSoft and studio Dynamis One have revealed the three members of the Rose of Bunkyo (Rose of Bunkyo), a clan of magical vigilantes operating in the shadows of an alternate version of Tokyo to keep order in one of the Japanese capital's most peaceful districts.

In Astrae Oratio, the “hidden world” coexists with mundane reality, and Bunkyo — in real life known as a quiet neighborhood dominated by universities and hospitals — hides beneath its apparent calm a network of mages who must be contained when they lose control. That is exactly the job of the Rose of Bunkyo.

The Three Revealed Members

Takarabe Chikage — The Academic Leader

A student at the University of Tokyo and leader of the clan, Chikage carries her academic pedigree with almost excessive pride. Her specialty is topological magic — a magic system based on scientific knowledge that manipulates spatial and geometric properties. In a world where magic and science intertwine, Chikage is proof that intellect can be the most dangerous weapon.

Hanamori Moa — The “Phantom Thief”

Moa patrols Bunkyo at night and insists on calling herself a “phantom thief” (phantom thief) — although her work is exactly the opposite: protecting, not stealing. By day, she is a diligent pedagogy student at a prestigious women's university. The contrast between the theatrical nighttime persona and the responsible daytime life adds a layer of humor and duality to the group.

Haibara Nono — The Dangerous Smile

A nursing assistant at a long-term care hospital, Nono suffers from chronic fatigue caused by her exhausting work routine. When exhaustion reaches its limit, her face shows a “dangerous-looking smile” that, according to the developers, unsettles both allies and enemies. She is the kind of character who makes you wonder whether exhaustion is merely physical — or something deeper.

What stands out: The character building steers completely clear of generic RPG archetypes. A leader who uses topology as magic, a vigilante who dresses up as a thief and a nurse with a threatening smile — Astrae Oratio seems to bet on refined strangeness as its identity.

Developed by Dynamis One and published by NCSoft, Astrae Oratio is set in an alternate Tokyo where magic exists hidden from ordinary society. The game has been receiving character and faction reveals throughout 2026, gradually building its world's mythology ahead of any official release date.
