Obsession Nikki skin arrives at Fortnite this Fortnitemares
Published on · Updated on
The protagonist of hit horror film Obsession arrives at the Fortnite Item Shop this Wednesday; here's what the leak previews reveal about the bundle.

Careful what you wish for: Nikki is about to set foot on the island. The skin of the protagonist of Obsession — the horror film that became 2026's phenomenon — officially arrives at the Fortnite Item Shop this Wednesday, October 21, at 9 pm Brasília time (8 pm ET), as part of Fortnitemares, according to Ei Nerd, Epic Games' annual Halloween event. The confirmation came straight from Fortnite's official profile and wraps up months of fan requests, who imagined the character as a skin long before the announcement.
The announcement: date, time and the official tweet
Epic Games revealed the crossover on Monday, October 20, with a short, menacing message that needs no translation for any fan of the genre:
"Be careful what you wish for… Nikki is coming to Fortnite tomorrow"
From Fortnite's official profile on X.
The release window follows the game's usual Shop rotation pattern: the update goes live at 9 pm Brasília time (8 pm ET), and items remain available for a limited time — Epic typically keeps seasonal event highlights rotating across the weeks of Fortnitemares. It is worth highlighting the speed of the move: Forbes pointed out that the deal between Epic and Obsession's rights holders was stitched together in just over four months after the film's release — a record time for official licensing, which traditionally takes years between the movie and the game.
Obsession: the film that cost little and earned a lot
Nikki is the protagonist of Obsession, played by actress Inde Navarrette, and the crossover only makes sense because of the phenomenon's size: the film grossed over US$500 million at the box office on a budget that press reports place between US$750 thousand and US$1 million — numbers that make the production one of the biggest financial surprises of recent horror cinema. The plot, which mixes horror with a wish gone wrong, turned the character into "the darling of horror in 2026," as Ei Nerd puts it, and created the perfect environment for a crossover: when Fortnite came knocking for the rights, the character was already a meme, a cosplay staple and a theory generator in equal measure.
The scale of the success refocused press attention: Forbes even projected that Navarrette could end the year competing for an Oscar nomination for the role — while already being cast as Rogue in the upcoming X-Men reboot of the MCU. In four months, the same actress stacked a box-office phenomenon, an awards-season bet and an entry into the world's biggest movie franchise; the Fortnite skin is just the latest point on her meteoric curve.
What the previews reveal about the bundle
Before the official confirmation, the bundle had already surfaced through leak channels, and the previews circulating on social media point to the set's composition:
- Nikki Outfit — the main skin, with style variations revealed in the preview (including a version with splash details that does not appear in the official announcement)
- Broken Bottle Pickaxe — a direct reference to one of the film's most disturbing scenes
- One Wish Willow Back Bling — the character's iconic willow branch, a reference to the tree that opens the story
- "No No No" Emote — choreography tied to Nikki's best-known line of dialogue
There are also reports that the back bling reacts to eliminations with sound effects, but those details remain unofficial until the Shop goes live. The concept was so anticipated that a fan-made version with a pickaxe and back accessory went viral weeks before the announcement — and the final version came surprisingly close to what the community had already imagined. The leaker @iannzits published the most complete preview of the bundle stamped "FORTNITE | OBSESSÃO", giving a sense of the level of cooperation between Epic and the production.
Fortnitemares 2026: the island becomes horror's home
Nikki lands in a festive context: Fortnitemares 2026 has already assembled a heavy line-up of horror icons, with Freddy Krueger, Beetlejuice, Slender Man and the Five Nights at Freddy's animatronics roaming the island. The FNAF crossover, by the way, earned its own investigation on our site — we collected the clues from update v42.20 about the partnership's arrival. Nikki's arrival adds to the cast a name born in this very year's cinema: unlike Freddy and Beetlejuice, decades-old veterans, the Obsession character belongs to the batch of instant monsters, created and adopted by the internet in record time.
For those hunting the event's more traditional ghosts, we have the Jason at Fortnitemares guide, with where to find and how to defeat the Camp Crystal Lake terror. Meanwhile, the history of the battle royale's great crossovers — which has hosted everyone from Goku to Ariana Grande — is mapped in our Fortnite crossovers dossier, which gains a cinema chapter this year with Nikki.
Who is Inde Navarrette, horror's new face (and account)
Navarrette, by the way, is not playing this role out of professional duty: the actress is a longtime gamer and has streamed Call of Duty on Twitch, which makes the crossover feel closer to a fan-confirmed booking than an advertising contract. She is the one who lends her face to Nikki both on screen and in the game — and who voices, in interviews, the community's requests to see the character live beyond the cinema.
With the Shop opening at 9 pm Brasília time (8 pm ET), it remains to be seen whether the bundle arrives complete or in parts, and how long it stays available during Fortnitemares. An update is planned as soon as the Shop incorporates all official items and prices. For those who haven't seen the film yet, Epic's message remains the same as the announcement: careful what you wish for.
