Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Wednesday (21) a package of five new licenses for the English-language market. The announcement brings together the light novel Sagrada Reset, the manga Two Cats and a Dog, The Mercenary Bomber Explodes All Cheaters and Miotsukushi: Backdoor Channels, plus the audiobook edition of Venus Mission: I Was an Assassin-for-Hire Who Died, Now I’m Hunting Heroes in Another World. The titles are spread across the Airship, Siren and Boys’ Love imprints, with releases scheduled between December 2026 and October 2027.

The lineup stands out for its variety. Instead of concentrating on a single niche — as licensing batches focused on isekai or school romance often do — Seven Seas bet on a mix of urban fantasy, full-color cat comedy, isekai action, political thriller with romance and a dark fantasy audiobook. For readers outside the English market, the announcement also works as a gauge of what may travel abroad in the coming years, since English licenses frequently pave the way for translated editions.

A five-title package across three imprints

Seven Seas organizes its catalog into different imprints, and Wednesday’s announcement touched nearly all of them. Airship, dedicated to light novels, got Sagrada Reset. The Siren imprint — focused on audiobooks — received Venus Mission. The Boys’ Love line will house Miotsukushi: Backdoor Channels. The other two manga join the publisher’s main catalog.

Sagrada Reset: the town where three days can vanish

The best-known title in the package is undoubtedly Sagrada Reset — originally Sakurada Reset. Written by Yutaka Kōno with illustrations by Torocchi, the light novel takes place in Sakurada, a fictional town where many residents possess some kind of special ability. The premise revolves around Misora Haruki, a girl who can rewind time by up to three days, and Kei Asai, a boy who retains all his memories when the world rolls back.

“All it takes is the word ‘reset,’ and the world can lose three days. In Sakurada, a town full of people with special abilities, there lives Misora, a girl who can rewind time, and Kei, a boy who retains his memories when she does. When the two join forces on trips to the past, where will they end up?”

The franchise received an anime adaptation in 2017, produced by David Production, along with a live-action film released in Japan the same year. Its blend of mystery, philosophy and romance earned a loyal, if niche, following. The arrival of the original light novel in English fills an important gap: until now, English-language readers mainly knew the story through the anime, without easy access to the text that started it all.

The series also has a curious history with international audiences. The anime circulated on streaming platforms and was widely discussed in fan communities, but the light novel never received an official English edition until now. A release through the Airship imprint could encourage publishers in other markets to consider a translation, especially as the light novel segment keeps expanding worldwide.

Two Cats and a Dog: life with three pets and only two hands

If Sagrada Reset leans on mystery, Two Cats and a Dog goes the opposite way: gentle, affectionate everyday life. Haru Fujimori’s work is a fully colored manga about an artist who shares a home with three furry companions — Bana-san, a devoted dog; Kuro, a gluttonous cat; and Cha-sama, a feline who lives in their own world.

The premise is simple and familiar to any pet owner: how do you divide attention, affection and time among three very different personalities? Seven Seas describes the book as “an adorable, full-color comic about the daily life of three affectionate pets and their devoted human.” The release is set for September 2027, with no volume count announced so far.

The title reinforces a trend in the English manga market: the growing value of slice-of-life and domestic comedy, which have found a broad audience outside Japan. Pet-focused titles tend to perform well on social media, where cute panels circulate easily — a commercial factor publishers clearly take into account.

The Mercenary Bomber Explodes All Cheaters: action and isekai

The Mercenary Bomber Explodes All Cheaters, meanwhile, dives into action isekai. The work by Karaku Yuuki and Urashima Tsushima follows Jack, a mercenary known as “The Bomber” for his expertise with explosives. After a particularly heavy job, his reward is a summons to another world — and he must prove that his explosive talents remain useful in a completely different environment.

The title arrives in October 2027 with its first volume. The pitch combines two popular currents: the hardened, competent protagonist typical of mercenary stories and the reincarnation/transport-to-another-world structure. The difference, according to the synopsis, lies in the humor and the hero’s unusual specialty — solving problems with explosions rather than magic swords.

Notably, the title uses “cheaters” in the sense of people who cheat or gain unfair advantages — a recurring theme in fantasy plots where summoned heroes receive unbalanced powers. It suggests the work will speak directly to the power-fantasy audience, but with an action-comedy tone.

Miotsukushi: espionage, politics and romance on the Boys’ Love imprint

The most intriguing license in the package may be Miotsukushi: Backdoor Channels by Yuzuha Ougi. The plot follows a spy infiltrated into the office of a member of Japan’s House of Representatives. Nagumo, the lawmaker’s secretary, hires the genius hacker Mio to identify the intruder. Mio completes the job in record time, but he does not want money as payment: he wants Nagumo’s body.

From there, the work builds a romance between a single-mindedly devoted hacker and a brutally ambitious political operative, set against institutional intrigue. The release is scheduled for July 2027 on Seven Seas’ Boys’ Love imprint, with the first volume.

The bet makes sense. The English-language BL market has grown steadily over the past decade, and stories featuring adult characters, established careers and suspense plots have found space beyond traditional school romance. Miotsukushi seems to fit that niche exactly: political tension, morally ambiguous characters and a relationship that begins with a highly unconventional negotiation.

Venus Mission: the audiobook arrives via the Siren imprint

Rounding out the batch, Seven Seas releases Venus Mission: I Was an Assassin-for-Hire Who Died, Now I’m Hunting Heroes in Another World as an audiobook, written by MIYABI and Eito Nishikawa. Narration is handled by Nicholas Corda, and the first volume arrives on December 17 through the Siren imprint.

The story follows Takashi Suzuki, a middle-aged mercenary and former hit man who loses his battle with cancer. Death, however, is not the end for a killer of his caliber: a mysterious goddess reincarnates him in a fantasy world and gives him a divine mission — eliminate thirty-two heroes. These so-called heroes are Japanese high schoolers summoned en masse, granted cheat-level powers and now plunging the world into chaos.

Reborn as Rei and partnered with the beautiful, deadly elf warrior Lydina, Suzuki must combine modern combat tactics, classical martial arts and newly awakened magic to work through his list. The synopsis suggests the story goes beyond violence: the goddess’s true motives and a larger conspiracy unfold behind the scenes. The audiobook format extends the work’s reach to listeners who consume fiction during commutes and daily routines.

Why this announcement matters for the market

Seven Seas’ package matters for three reasons. First, it shows the publisher diversifying its bets at a time when certain isekai subgenres are saturated. Alongside an explosive action title, the company is investing in a full-color cat manga and a political thriller with romance — three products with quite distinct audiences.

Second, the announcement reinforces the weight of audiobooks in the manga and light novel catalog. The Siren imprint exists precisely to explore that format, and including Venus Mission in the same batch as print titles indicates that Seven Seas treats audio as a main line, not an experiment.

Third, there is the effect on other markets. English licenses function as a showcase: when a work receives an accessible official edition, local publishers watch its performance and weigh translations. There is no guarantee that all five titles will travel further, but the interest generated in fan communities often influences editorial decisions. Anyone following the manga and anime markets knows that the gap between an international announcement and a possible local edition can take years — and depends on both sales and rights availability.

Release calendar

The dates are those announced by the publisher for the English-language market and may change. Seven Seas typically announces catalog additions throughout the year, and further details — such as volume counts, formats and prices — are likely to be revealed as each release approaches.

What to watch through 2027

For Sagrada Reset fans, the main question is how Seven Seas will handle a dense text full of philosophical dialogue and time rules that demand precision. The BL audience, in turn, should watch how Miotsukushi is received, especially since it features adult characters and a political setting — something less common in the recent catalog.

Two Cats and a Dog has the potential to become one of the most shared titles in the batch, thanks to its color format and the visual appeal of its pets. The Mercenary Bomber Explodes All Cheaters competes in a crowded segment, but its humor and the protagonist’s specialty may set it apart. And Venus Mission arrives with the advantage of an established light novel audience, now in audio form.

The announcement was made by Seven Seas on Wednesday (21) and first reported by Anime News Network. More details about the titles are available on the publisher’s official website.
