The fourth special Detective Conan episode selection, titled Clash of the Red and Black, begins streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll on November 1, TMS Entertainment announced. The collection brings together episodes tied to the conflict between the FBI and the Black Organization, one of the anime’s central story arcs. The distributor has not specified which countries will receive the package, so the date alone does not confirm its arrival in every local catalog.

TMS published the announcement on October 26. The selection follows cases and events that appear unrelated at first but gradually connect to a larger investigation involving covert operatives, international intelligence agencies and the criminal organization pursuing Conan. Anime News Network reports that the arc had not previously received an English-language release in the West, making the new collection particularly notable for viewers outside Japan.

What is the Clash of the Red and Black collection?

Clash of the Red and Black is the fourth volume in a series of themed Detective Conan episode selections. Rather than releasing complete seasons in order, the packages group chapters around characters or storylines. The format lets viewers follow specific arcs without presenting each collection as a new season or newly produced episodes.

The previous selection focused on FBI Intervention. This new volume revisits that thread and expands it through the confrontation with the Black Organization, the group responsible for turning Shinichi Kudo into a child. TMS describes a sequence in which apparently disconnected clues lead to an investigation with wider consequences. The company has not announced how many episodes are included or provided an individual episode list.

The announcement also does not say whether the selection will include an English dub or other language options. TMS’s artwork promotes availability on Netflix and Crunchyroll, but audio, subtitle and territory details can differ between services. Viewers should check the title page in their local app, especially close to the release date.

Why the arc matters to the story

The arc follows an investigation that brings Conan closer to a conflict between the Black Organization and FBI agents. The tension goes beyond solving a single case: the investigation threatens to reveal identities and expose people working undercover. It is a stretch of the series in which Conan’s everyday life as a young student and detective intersects more directly with the mystery behind his transformation.

In TMS’s official synopsis, Shinichi Kudo is a teenage detective who is attacked and poisoned after investigating a suspicious transaction. The poison shrinks his body to that of a child but does not take away his intelligence. Under the name Conan Edogawa, he continues investigating while searching for those responsible and trying to reclaim his identity.

The mix of individual mysteries and a long-running plot helps explain why the franchise lends itself to themed collections. The November volume groups episodes that work in sequence and trace a larger storyline instead of simply gathering unrelated chapters. Longtime viewers get a focused route through the conflict; newcomers may want earlier context to follow every relationship and revelation.

How it follows earlier selections

TMS began the selection series in 2025. The first package, Conan vs. the Black Organization, started streaming in July of that year. The second, Rivals of the Great Detective, brought together episodes about Conan’s rivals and allies. In May 2026, the third volume, FBI Intervention, highlighted the FBI’s role. The November release continues the format with an arc that puts the two forces on a collision course.

These collections do not replace the weekly series or mean that the anime is restarting. The original production continues in Japan, while the special volumes arrange chapters from different periods by theme. Viewers should distinguish the numbering of these collections from the regular episode count, which TMS says has passed 1,200.

Availability may vary by country

The official announcement names Netflix and Crunchyroll but does not list territories. Crunchyroll identifies regional availability on its catalog pages, and Netflix libraries also differ by country. The announcement confirms a November 1 start on the named platforms, but it does not guarantee that the selection will appear in every market on that date.

The franchise began as a manga by Gōshō Aoyama in 1994, serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday, and received its television anime in 1996. TMS counts more than 1,200 episodes and 29 films, as well as international distribution and more than US$1 billion in combined box-office revenue for the movies. The new episode selection is another way to present a large catalog to different audiences.

“The fourth volume of Detective Conan Episode Selection is coming to Crunchyroll and Netflix on November 1.”
