A new romantic drama promises to shake up Japan’s digital comics catalog. Creators Atari Katagiri and Makoto Kisaragi have officially launched the series Watashi-tachi no Koto wa Nanto Yobeba (which can be translated as What Should We Call Our Relationship?). The title officially debuted on the Manga UP! service, run by publisher Square Enix.
The production splits creative duties between the two authors: Atari Katagiri handles the scriptwriting and main artwork, while Makoto Kisaragi is in charge of the structural composition of the pages.
From childhood sweethearts to relatives under the same roof
The narrative premise of Watashi-tachi no Koto wa Nanto Yobeba follows Mineko and Sunao (also referred to as Kan). During their high school years, the two were in a close romantic relationship, seeing in each other the person who understood them best in the world. The situation changes drastically when both of their single parents decide to marry, turning the young couple into step-siblings overnight.
Faced with the new family bond, the couple mutually agree to put their romance on hold to preserve harmony at home. Years later, tragedy marks both of their lives with the sudden death of their parents in an accident. Now independent, responsible adults, Mineko and Sunao live under the same roof, dealing with the daily routine and memories of the old romance kept secret.
