In a massive Halloween celebration packed with mystery and multiversal action, developer Kabam in partnership with Marvel Games has officially confirmed the arrival of two highly anticipated fighters to the acclaimed mobile game Marvel Contest of Champions (Marvel Contest of Champions – MCoC): Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) and Colossus (Age of Apocalypse). The announcement, made in early October 2026, marks the opening of the 7th annual edition of the popular Summoner's Choice vote — this time entirely dedicated to unusual Spider-Verse variants — in addition to introducing the narrative event quest Closer to the Edge and unlocking a special welcome bundle with ten entirely free dark-themed champions for new players in the mobile ecosystem of video games.
1. Robbie Reyes and Colossus: supernatural and mutant forces invade the Battlerealm
With a monumental roster surpassing the impressive mark of 350 playable champions on Android and iOS, the universe of Marvel Contest of Champions keeps expanding its borders by honoring landmark stories from Marvel comics. The month's first major debut will be Colossus (Age of Apocalypse), unlockable starting October 15, 2026. He is the rightful winner of the popular Summoner's Choice 2026 vote, elected directly by the community of summoners the previous year.
This alternate variant of the classic Piotr Rasputin comes from the grim universe where the villain Apocalypse conquered North America. A former Soviet super-soldier who rebelled to fight alongside Magneto's X-Men, the character bears brutal battle scars: after suffering catastrophic injuries in combat, he lost the ability to return to his human form, living permanently trapped in his armored organic-steel skin and wielding ruthless tactical ferocity against his opponents.
Two weeks later, on October 29, 2026, it will be Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)'s turn to make his triumphant entrance just in time for the Halloween festivities. Unlike Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, who ride demonic motorcycles, Robbie is a young prodigy mechanic from East Los Angeles who drives a powerful possessed 1969 Dodge Charger known as the Hell-Charger. After being murdered in a street ambush, Robbie was resurrected and fused with the vengeful spirit of his late uncle, the satanist serial killer Eli Morrow, becoming an anti-hero with a flaming metal helmet and supernatural chains.
2. Special quest Closer to the Edge: the Battle Realm on the brink of collapse
The duo's arrival does not happen in a vacuum: both will be the centerpieces of the new narrative event quest titled Closer to the Edge, live on servers from October 7 to November 4, 2026. In the quest's storyline, two established figures missing for months — Doctor Strange and Spider-Man 2099 — mysteriously return to the Battlerealm with an urgent and terrifying warning for the Summoner: the very fundamental dimensions of the realm are fracturing at high speed.

Drawn by the cosmic distress call emitted by the dimensional rifts, Robbie Reyes and Colossus are pulled into the vortex of destruction, forcing unlikely alliances with veteran heroes and villains as players face bosses with climate mutators and season-exclusive duel rules.
3. Summoner's Choice 2027: eight Spider-Verse variants in the race
Alongside the new quests, Kabam has kicked off the popular Summoner's Choice 2027 vote. This annual democratic initiative lets players choose which Marvel character will be built from scratch and officially introduced into the game next year. For the 2027 edition, the developer dedicated the ballot entirely to unusual and cult-favorite versions of the Spider-Man universe across the multiverse:
The eight first-round contenders feature widely diversified skill profiles and comic-book histories:
- Doppelganger: A monstrous six-armed, sharp-toothed creature forged in the Infinity War event as a bestial replica of Peter Parker.
- Spiders-Man: A frightening collective consciousness formed by thousands of radioactive spiders that devoured Peter Parker and came to believe they are him.
- Araña (Anya Corazon): An acrobatic gymnast and warrior of Hispanic descent who fights crime with an exoskeleton carapace and special web bolas.
- Webslinger: The classic Old West gunslinger who protects frontier towns wielding web revolvers, despite being feared by the very villagers.
- Cyborg Spider-Man: Peter Parker reanimated and sustained by cybernetic implants and a high-tech arm cannon after suffering a near-fatal duel.
- Rek-Rap: A hilarious Limbo demon fascinated by Spider-Man who fused with a symbiote and a fan T-shirt to emulate his heroic idol.
- Spider-Byte (Margo Kess): A prodigy girl and virtual-reality hacker who fights cybercrime in cyberspace as a holographic avatar.
- Spider-Ma'am (May Parker): The lovable May Parker of Earth-3123 who was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of her nephew and protects the neighborhood with crochet needles and homemade webs.
To take part in the vote, players must have reached at least Summoner level 6. Votes are cast through Voting Selectors (each selector grants five votes to the chosen candidate). Players can earn three selectors per round by completing Solo Objectives (winning five fights in any mode) and three more selectors by redeeming free daily bundles in Kabam's official Webstore — each daily bundle also gifts the user a two-star champion from past editions of the tournament.
The voting schedule is split into three competitive stages:
- Round 1 (8 contenders): October 9–12 (closing at 3 PM BRT / 11 AM PT). The 4 most-voted advance.
- Round 2 (Semifinal – 4 contenders): October 16–19 (closing at 3 PM BRT / 11 AM PT). The 2 finalists advance.
- Final Round (Grand Duel): October 23–26 (closing at 3 PM BRT / 11 AM PT).
The official winner will be solemnly revealed on November 2, 2026 during a special livestream on Kabam's official Twitch and YouTube channels, as highlighted in the cultural coverage by Revista Pixel.
4. Graveyard Shift campaign and Halloween bundles for new players
Aiming to attract new fans of superheroes and comic-book franchises, Kabam has prepared the Graveyard Shift campaign, offering a starter kit with 10 free champions with a supernatural-horror theme. To claim the bundle, simply create a new game account between September 30 (9 PM BRT) and November 3, 2026 (8:59 PM BRT). The selection includes high-impact fighters:
- Kushala: The dreaded Sorcerer Supreme and Apache Spirit of Vengeance.
- Cosmic Ghost Rider: The futuristic and insane version of Frank Castle as a servant of Galactus.

In addition, October's calendar includes the outcome of the story mission Epilogue Part 4: Last Struggle on October 14, letting summoners rebuild a seven-star version of Carina Tivan after defeating the dreaded Doctor Doom and the Chronoserpent. On the same day, the side quest Symbiote Generals debuts, featuring the friendly Summoned Symbiote earning progressive bonuses to take on the troops of the symbiote god Knull.
