Natsume Ono will launch KORORE, a new spin-off manga connected to ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Department and BADON, in the third 2027 issue of Japan’s Monthly Big Gangan, scheduled for February 25. Square Enix announced the project in artwork celebrating the magazine’s 15th anniversary. A synopsis, character details, publication frequency, and collected-volume plans have not been announced.

Announcement and release date

The official Monthly Big Gangan account announced the project on October 26. Ono’s name appears beside ACCA 13-ku Kansatsu-ka, BADON, and KORORE; the artwork identifies issue 3 of 2027, dated February 25 in Japan.

“Five new series are starting.”

The post promotes five forthcoming titles, but KORORE is the one explicitly linked with two of Ono’s earlier manga. The magazine has not said whether familiar characters will appear, who the story follows, or what genre it will use. The confirmed details are the title, the connection, and the planned Japanese debut.

Korore in the world of ACCA

Korore is one of the 13 territories in the Kingdom of Dowa, the setting of ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Department. Square Enix’s official ACCA introduction describes a country divided into 13 regions and a central organization with units across them. The story follows Jean Otus, an ACCA inspector whose travels bring him near a political conspiracy.

The district is also named in chapters of the original manga. The English edition lists two Korore chapters, including “An Unexpected Encounter with the Truth in Korore.” This provides context for the title, but does not confirm that the new series will revisit the same city, use the existing cast, or continue the main plot. The original manga ran in Monthly Big Gangan and was collected in six volumes.

The BADON connection

BADON, another Ono manga from the magazine, follows four men who have left prison and arrive in the capital Bādon planning to open a specialty tobacco shop. Square Enix’s official BADON page highlights their attempt to start over and the friendship behind their business. The series ended with its ninth Japanese volume in May 2024.

Calling KORORE a spin-off of both works connects stories that share Dowa’s geography. It remains unknown whether it is a direct sequel, a side story, or an independent narrative in that setting. “Spin-off” can describe stories with familiar characters, a different territory, or an expansion of the original world. Without a synopsis or character introduction, none of those possibilities can be confirmed, and no timeline relative to ACCA or BADON has been given.

What has been confirmed

The date refers to the Japanese magazine, not a simultaneous international release. Square Enix has not announced a Portuguese edition, overseas license, price, chapter count, or volume total. Yen Press publishes ACCA in English, and its listing for volume four names stories in Korore; BADON concluded in Japan with nine collected volumes. These facts place KORORE in Ono’s bibliography but do not establish its availability abroad.

A new story still under wraps

ACCA explores institutions, regional differences, and politics, while BADON follows people trying to rebuild their lives elsewhere in the same world. Korore’s name opens another door into that shared setting, but the magazine has not described what readers will find. A synopsis or first-chapter preview should provide the next substantive information.

For now, the announcement confirms that Ono is preparing a series connected to ACCA and BADON for Monthly Big Gangan in February 2027. Follow our manga coverage and read about another manga announced by a Japanese creator for updates.
