Free GTA 6? Microsoft Rewards could pay for the whole game by November

Learn how to stack Microsoft Rewards points and get GTA 6 without spending a cent – step-by-step guide.

Less than five months ahead of the launch of GTA 6, set for November 19, 2026, a simple and legitimate method promises to bring the cost of the game down to zero. The secret lies in Microsoft Rewards, the loyalty program from the Redmond giant that rewards users with points for daily searches and activities.
In July 2026, Tom’s Guide writer Arif Bacchus showed in practice how he used the system to pre-order the game without spending a cent of his own money. The formula is repeatable and, with consistency, can even cover the US$ 99,99 Ultimate edition.
How Microsoft Rewards works
The first step is simple: set Bing as your default search engine and sign in with a Microsoft account. From there, every search made in the browser earns points automatically.
The daily limits are clear: up to 250 points per day, split between 150 points for PC searches and 100 points for mobile searches. Keeping up this routine for a month yields about 7,000 points. By November, that adds up to roughly 42,000 points – enough to take US$ 40 off the price of the game on Xbox.
The Bing mobile app expands the opportunities. Reading the daily news in the app grants an extra 30 points per day. The seven-day check-in streak earns weekly bonuses, and completing puzzles with consecutive logins unlocks a one-time bonus of 1,000 points.
See the daily earning potential:
- PC searches: up to 150 points
- Mobile searches: up to 100 points
- Reading news in the Bing app: 30 points
- Daily Microsoft Rewards activities: about 30 points
- Playing via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (15 min/day): +40 points
How much you can stack up before launch
To turn points into cash, reaching Level 2 of the program is essential. At that tier, redemption rates are better. With 50,000 points you can redeem a US$ 50 Microsoft Store or Xbox gift card. The realistic goal, with daily dedication, is to stack between 80,000 and 100,000 points before November 19.
That fully covers the GTA 6 Standard Edition (US$ 79,99) and gets close to the price of the Ultimate Edition (US$ 99,99). Sales tax, depending on location, may be on the buyer.
For those planning to play on PS5, there is the option of redeeming Amazon gift cards, although they require more points per dollar and are not always available. Best Buy cards are the worst value in terms of conversion.
Important: to keep Level 2, you must earn at least 500 points per month. Inactive accounts lose the discount.
Extra tips to speed up your points
Beyond searches, other activities boost your balance. The daily Microsoft Rewards tasks (Daily Set) add about 30 points. For Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, playing selected titles for just 15 minutes a day earns another 40 points. The Windows 11 search box also offers extra bonuses.
Microsoft Store purchases for Level 2 members earn 10 points for every dollar spent, meaning already planned spending stacks points with no extra effort.
Bacchus, who has stacked almost 2.5 million points since joining the program, summed it up: “Microsoft Rewards will not replace a salary, but for anyone who already uses Microsoft services every day, the points quietly add up. Starting now gives you a real path to cover a significant part – or all – of the cost of GTA 6 before launch.”
With discipline, the dream of getting your hands on GTA 6 without spending a cent is perfectly achievable. Just start today.
