Batman, Harry Potter, and Star Trek now have something in common off-screen: they belong to the same entertainment group. Paramount completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery this Tuesday, October 6, 2026, and the combined company is now called Skydance.

For fans of superheroes, fantasy, and science fiction, the news redraws the corporate map behind the stories. It brings major brands under shared management, but it is still important to separate this change of control from decisions about each film, series, or character.

Which franchises are in the new group?

The Associated Press roundup includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, plus Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, and House of the Dragon.

The portfolio also brings together Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim. For fans, that puts stories and animation styles that are quite different inside the same conglomerate.

Does this announce a crossover?

Closing the acquisition is a business decision. On its own, it does not confirm a character team-up, a reboot, or a sequel. Those projects need their own announcements from the people in charge of production.

Likewise, belonging to the same group does not mean every work will immediately be available under a single subscription. Distribution rights and title availability require specific information.

What the company announced

In the closing statement, the company presents the combination of studios, streaming services, and television operations. It also pledges to deliver at least 30 theatrical films per year and more than 180 television programs and series.

Those figures are production commitments announced by the company, not a ready-made release slate. What matters now is how the new structure shows up in calendars, projects, and creative decisions.
